Alhaja Adiza Itede Ikharo was born to the illustrious Ikharo royal family Usogun quarters Auchi on the 10th of October 1930. Her Father was the late Chief Braimah Kaisaraki Ikharo – a direct son of His Royal Highness Abubakar Ikharo, the 5th Otaru of Auchi and her mother was from equally the illustrious Afegbua family of Okpella. She was the first of her mother’s six children and was undoubtedly a great pillar of support to all her siblings and the Ikharo Family at large.
During her rather short sojourn on planet Earth, there was hardly any member of the Ikharo family that she did not impact positively (directly and indirectly). The Ikharo family story would be incomplete without according her a special pride of place. In a nut shell, she was a woman of great substance and a big source of pride and inspiration to the Ikharo family.
She did not have the privilege of acquiring western Education. This was so, because according to her, during her formative years most parents did not see the need to educate their female children. In spite of this, she was extremely intelligent and was able to successfully manage her affairs, business and family much more than some of her contemporaries that acquired formal training.
She was a successful business woman. She ran a very successful food selling business and she was a grade A registered contractor with the then Bendel State Government. She operated several eateries but the most notable and the last before her demise was the well-known TOURIST INN located strategically at the then upper Garage (Auchi Motor Park).
She ensured that all her children had quality education. She was highly supportive in the feeding and education of most of her nephews and nieces even without the knowledge of their parents. She was simply an Enigma that was ahead of her time.
She was the very first wife of the legendary Alhaji Yaro Lecky (the late Waziri of Auchi) with whom she had five children namely.
- Jafaru (Deceased)
- Odion (Presently the first child of Alhaji Yaro lecky),
- Omomo, Odion’s twin sister (Deceased).
- The great and amiable Dr. Mustafa lecky (Galadima of Auchi Kingdom)
- Tony Lecky (New Jersey)
Others are:
- Franca Uweleiya Adamu (Deceased)
- Mrs. Mero Musa (Bay area California)
- Nafisat Haruna Omomo (Deceased)
- Abubakar Haruna (Ex Asst. General Manager, Zenith Bank Lagos)
- Jume Basil (Bay Area California)
She was a woman of high moral and ethical values and these values she instilled in all her children.
Even though, her earthly sojourn was relatively short, it was a highly eventful, impactful and successful life especially for those who came across her. Up to date, she is counted as on one of Auchi’s most successful Women.
May Almighty Allah continue to forgive her of all her shortcomings and continue to grant her Al jannah Firdaus. Amin.
